Q:

Come on, are Careste garments really equivalent to $3,000 luxury dresses and $1,500 luxury blouses?

A:

Yes. Really. Unlike the ultra luxury fashion houses of Paris and Milan, we don’t own retail stores or warehouses full of inventory or wholesale networks selling to luxury department stores. We don’t stage runway shows. We simply cut out the fat and corporate excesses. We source our fabrics from the world’s finest mills and set the quality bar as high as it gets. Our Creative Director and Co-founder, Elizabeth Shah, is a highly acclaimed designer, who honed her skills working in Italy and France for Giorgio Armani, Emanuel Ungaro and Sonia Rykiel as well as designing one-of-a-kind couture for celebrities and royalty. We live and breathe high fashion and are dedicated to bringing its romance and glamour as well as the perfect fit to stylish and discerning women at fair and attainable prices.

Q:

How is Careste sustainable?

A:

We’re pretty green and getting greener. Aside from not flooding the fashion retail world with inventories of pre-made garments in predetermined and often wasted sizes and colors, our overhead and energy use is comparatively miniscule. Also, we use 100% natural fabrics, including silks, cottons and wools. We avoid the inexpensive and environmentally harmful synthetics and semi-synthetics commonplace in the fashion industry. And remember, all our garments are Made-to-Order. While our carbon footprint is small, we’re working on making it microscopic.

Q:

What makes Careste's Shanghai factory world-class?

A:

Our production facility has a distinguished history of handcrafting ultra luxury women’s dresses and blouses for the most prestigious European brands. We believe that it is among the finest in the world. Notice the exquisite needlework and meticulous attention to detail evident in every garment. The secret is in many years of experience, the combination of old word craft and 21st century technology, and treating every employee like family.

Q:

Do you ever bring back limited edition prints?

A:

Unfortunately no. Like a fine art print, these special fabric designs are exclusive to Careste and created in small batches, never to be seen on a garment again.
