careste: Describe your ideal spring ensemble...
TOMASI HILL: It’s a little preppy, a little fun: high-waisted, belted khaki shorts with a tee (striped or checked) and a flatform!
CARESTE: What is one style rule you will never be seen breaking?
TOMASI HILL: I don’t believe in style rules—experiment and be yourself!
CARESTE: YOU HAVE AN AFTERNOON ENTIRELY TO YOURSELF. WHAT DO YOU DO?
TOMASI HILL: Hot yoga, vintage furniture shopping, estate sales, and a boozy champagne lunch with my girlfriends, which then turns into a dance party!
CARESTE: Why should women do their shopping on The Yes?
TOMASI HILL: Because THE YES is basically the world’s first fashion app that learns your personal style and then builds a custom experience for you. Plus, it gets smarter as you shop, so your home feed is unique to you—no two are the same. And we have everything from Khaite to Rosie Assoulin to Bottega to Zara, so duh. It’s an easy YES.
CARESTE: What made you want to bring Careste on board The Yes?
TOMASI HILL: We’ve been focused on growing our sustainable offerings. It’s so cool to see the younger generation passionately embrace protecting our environment in so many avenues, including fashion. I’m constantly so impressed by the extra efforts brands are taking to be more sustainable, even when it’s not the easiest or most cost-effective route. When my friend Trisha Gregory told me about Careste, I loved the made-to-order business model and how the recent launch of inclusive sizing, both of which are extremely important to us as a company.
CARESTE: Tell us what sustainability means to you.
TOMASI HILL: To be completely honest, I’m still learning! Every time I meet with a sustainable brand, I learn something new. I’m fascinated by how many different elements can contribute to sustainability: eco-friendly fabrics, responsible production, upcycling, small batch production… I’m more aware of what the fashion industry does to the environment, which makes me more and more mindful in my decisions.
CARESTE: What is your favorite piece from Careste and how would you style it with other pieces from The Yes?
TOMASI HILL: I’ll wear the Giselle Tunic all summer long. I’ll throw it on for dinner after a day by the pool or over a cool lace cami for Zoom calls.
